....they reprogrammed the DME so that it would “prime” the low pressure fuel pump system to ensure full pressure (72psi) at the HPFP inlet (before it started to spin) which suggests that they believed that pump cavitation may have been a potential cause of failure/wear.
A classic approach, above serves no purpose but elimination o'pump cavitation.
Do you have a malfunctioned pump? Cavitation damage being obvious, would like to see a pic of the compression / high pressure side. Wanted mine for that, but BMW demanded it as the price of warranty repair.
Totally annoying that it took them longer than a few days to ID & fix the problem. 4 years, wasn't it? Yarrrrrrrrrr....
