Sold to the customer on safety, but other reasons were driving the move to RFTs.

Also remember the tyres were supposed to be about 10% more expensive, at most. There was no discernable difference in driving characteristics, we were sold that as well.

I like full size spare tyres. If the car has alloy wheels, I like full size alloy spare tyres which are the same as the other 4.

Since most manufactures no longer have full size spares, I prefer RFTs over space savers and cans of goo.
