Not sure if I understood the question correctly. In fact the Brembo Calibers are thicker than OEM calipers. So depending on your wheels you might have to use spacers to get clearance with the inner side of the spokes.
The M3 uses wheels with a different offset to get a wider track. Using spacers basically achieves the same goal.
The supension components of the M3 and non-M are very similar from the geometry, with the M components being higher quality, made of aluminium vs steel, and with firmer bushings.
