It's not that simple. It appears that the combination of new/rebuilt pumps, ECU reprogramming, and selective injector replacement that BMW has been pursuing is at least **somewhat** effective.

However, people still report HPFP failures, up through and including the 2011 models; so, no -- just having the "latest" part does not keep it from failing.

Make sure the recall has been done on any car you are considering, though. That will at least give you the newest pump, software, and possibly some new injectors.
