I can't imagine it would hurt. Aluminum conducts heat around 400 times better than plastic. However, if I recall correctly, there is a piece of plastic covering the transmission up. It might need to be removed to allow adequate airflow to a finned aluminum trans pan.
How much does something like that cost? Large pieces of machined billet aluminum are so sexy.
