I sorted mine out.
I didn't see the point in replacing the whole pipe with the newer design as the seals (which are the cause of the problem) are the same in the new pipe as the replacements that are available for the old one.
I had the garage fit my seals for me, for £20 on top of an oil change it wasn't really worth me getting my hands dirty. It improved the drive of my car no end. The throttle response was a lot sharper and the whole car generally seemed happier! I'd really recommend anyone to get it sorted.
If your pipe is actually split though. It will be new pipe time.
