Result! Although it will still count as a claim I reckon.
About 3 years ago, I got a knock on the door about 7am from a bleary eyed chap saying, "I think I've just bumped your car mate." Turns out he'd drives straight up the chuff of my 12 month old Freelander 2 at what I reckon just have been about 40mph. Completely broken off one of the wheels and mashed the back end. I was thankful that he admitted it but I'd imagine it was out of guilt and what if someone saw him that he did it, rather than honesty or a good heart.
As an aside, in my nievety I went through accident exchange as recommended by land rover. The same day they picked up my car on a loader and dropped off a top of the range replacement with 200 miles on it. The ensuing claim ended up at around £17k, the majority of which was hire car costs. Just out of principle I wouldn't use a claim management company again - crazy hire car prices!!
