I had some crazy swirl marks in my paint from where some dummy tried to use a buffer incorrectly before I bought the car. It looked like wax that had dried before wiping off, but they were indeed a bunch of scratches. Just used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound with an orbital and it took it all out! It's hard to wipe it all off, so I just went back over it with wax and it looks amazing now. Highly recommended.
