Usually when I see oil at the bellhousing (where engine meets trans), it is coming from the oil filter housing or oil cooler thermostat gaskets. When these leak, the oil tends to run down the front of the engine to the oil pan rail, and eventually down to the bellhousing area.
Could also be the valve cover or even oil dripping out of the rear turbo inlet (excessive oil from PCV system), but the filter housing leaks are the most common based on my experience with these cars over the years.
