It's probably best to just bite the bullet with BMW as the key will be cut to your car.

I'd be on to the garage and tell them to pay BMW direct for a replacement key or give you some money back.
Sorry this is wrong. BMW will not reprogram a uses key. The only way is to read the ISK from the CAS module twinned with the key. Without ISK you cannot do this.
