A woman I went on a date with a few weeks ago said essentially the same thing. I definitely don't fit your or Shah's stereotype. I'm athletic with a 6-pack and a strong jaw-line, a bit of a thrill seeker, well traveled, practical, and good with women (verbally and physically). Of course, I had a tough time at engineering school and got into it more for the creative aspects than the number crunching. Should've done industrial design or architecture. I do mostly management now.
CES and car shows are attended primarily by dudes. The dudes at CES probably have a tougher time than average when it comes to interacting with women. Having an attractive woman give them attention and tell them about the product is just good marketing- know your audience.
