I've actually never had the experience of driving an M car... I imagine that is one hell of a fun car, though...
I used to drive a 330i regularly for business use (company car) and it's a fun car to drive too. It's quick and nimble. I won't say it's a big difference from a 330i to 335i, except for the fact that you get tons of torque and quicker off the line with the 335i. But i could assure you that you would be disappointed with the 328i. I'd almost settled with a 328ix briefly before I bought the 335i xdrive.
