Yup, it's old vs new with the 'sd' & 'xdrive' references. Check check the efficiency & tax costs on the 'sd' one to be safe. Remember my grudge that our 3.0d (pre-xdrive) was highest tax band. Think by 2008 these issues were ironed out (our X3 was a 56 plate) but better to check.
Good call on the new X3 though. It's basically that same size at the previous generation X5 but far more efficient.
