I take 3 bolts completely out, and leave two in, but almost out (one at the top and one at the bottom). Lower the car back down and they break loose. If it doesn't automatically break loose, while it's still on the ground, I pull the top part of the wheel toward me. You can feel the wheel coming toward you, but the two remaining lugs keep it from coming completely off the hub... and that has never failed me.
