There are other threads on tire choice, but here is my advice. Get the summer performance tire upgrade. It is an E90!!! If you want your car to perform, you need the right tires. An xi with all-seasons will do fine in most weather conditions, but if you really want to deal with snow/ice, then you will need winter tires. I am not sure what the choices are for run-flats, but the performance -- wet or dry -- of current winter tires is fantastic. In winter, I would rather drive a 2WD with winter tires than a xi with all seasons. Yes there is the initial cash outlay for winter tires, and a set of rims if you want a different size or avoid mounting hassles, but you save wear on your other tires, and get huge payoffs in terms of performance and safety.
