Not quite confirmed but will let folks know when I find out when I find out the specifics.
I believe Gap is through BMWFS when the car is in the US.
While the car is still in Europe, it's covered through the ED insurance through Alliance.
No US gap coverage is going to cover you while the car is still in Europe.
