BMW uk site list fuel comsuption at a 42.2mpg combined for the 335d, and 31.0mpg combined for the 335i.

335d is ~27% more efficient or ~180 miles extra per tank(16 gallon tank).

Better on the enviroment, less Co2 emissions.

Thats why.

Less HP, but way more torque, which is actually what moves the car.
