There are quite a few posts here and other forums about DiY for the OEM alarm, but it appears to be very easy, assuming your car came from the factory, pre-wired. So all you have to do is buy the parts, and plug them into the existing wiring connectors.

After you get all the parts mounted, the alarm should work, but not all the way.
If you want the 'armed' and 'dis-armed' chrip, and the clown-nose to blink, then the car's software has to be told that the alarm is now present, and that's an hours labor cost by a dealer.
