Yes you need a special BMW press to extract and install the sub-frame bushings. I will take a photo of the tool. I didn't mean to imply that this was easy to do, but rather that if you have dug all the way in and have clear access it is more efficient to do it then. Starting from scratch this would be a lot of work.
