I agree with sflgator: after I installed my aFe DCI, I definitely heard the 'whoosh' sound which I really like; the car sounds more aggressive because it's breathing better. However, I can't tell you what it does for HP/TQ, my JB3 is the culprit of the extra ponies gain. If you want HP/TQ gain, save up and get at tune...
