this is common, the e46 coupe was revised in 04 and 07 was a new body. the 3 series will get the revision as a 2010 and a new body in 2013.

i love the current 335i don't get me wrong, but a simple taillight change makes such a big difference, case in point, the 2008 and 2009 997 taillights.
