I second Alan I.'s question. Anyone know how Forgestar wheels are cast before the flow forming process? Since the flow forming only impacts the structure of the rim, I'm curious as to how the spokes are cast since that would also impact strength.
Also, since it's one piece, aren't you heat treating the whole wheel? I'm assuming you'd use a T6 heat treatment since it's simple and pretty standard. I haven't looked at T6 in a while, I can't remember how much of a risk of over-aging there is. Since the flow forming wouldn't introduce mechanical deformation in the spokes, which wouldn't lead to recrystallization... are you risking coarsening of the grains in the spokes?
