Sort of like Dan Rather said, "I don't care if these documents are forged. I know that Bush did what he did at the National Guard. I don't care if the documents are forged." I don't care if the Limbaugh quotes are made up. So, I can say, "I don't care if these quotes are made up. I know Obama thinks it. You know why I know Obama thinks it? Because I've heard him say it." Not about the Constitution, but about the Supreme Court. Again, 2001, FM radio station interview in Chicago when he was a state senator in Illinois."

He was using sarcasm when he discussed this issue on his show. As shown here, he says the thesis could be fake. The reason he is saying it doesn't matter is because he believed the media commentators said it did not matter if guests on media programs were attributing false quotes to Rush because he thought it. This was all in the context of his show. He also said that unlike the quotes attributed him, that had no other supporting evidence, Obama had similar comments when he talked about the Warren court..therefore, using the media's standard, it was more evidence than he really needed (sarcasm):

Obama's comments on the Warren Court that Rush was referring to is below:

If Rush wanted to just quote the article as truth, he would have never made the above comments.

I don't care if Limbaugh believes the thesis was real. I know he does. I heard him say it.
