The Quaife itself is in perfect condition. For some unknown reason the ring and pinion are worn. The company that fitted it either used the wrong oil or did something wrong. I have zero experience with differentials unlike motors etc so it is hard for me to know. I will be sending it for a opinion to a trustworthy company.
cstavaru, the engineering work that was required was the shortening of the front section of the 335 driveshaft. I am not sure what the exact measurements where.
im not sure if this applies to your diff, but i tried installing a quaife lsd in a customers car, it got it to go in but the way it was build and not able to shim the bmw diff, it had the ring gear way to tight against the pinion gear so there was zero backlash, needless to say i would not leave it in, i pulled it back out and put the stock back in
