Also, has anyone got any experience of Michelin, Dunlop or Pirelli winter tyres?

Finally, what's the difference between Michelin Primacy Alpin and Michelin Pilot Alpin - both winter tyres, available in my size (225/45/17) and RFT.
The Pilot Alpin is a higher performance tyre than the Primacy and should have a higher speed rating. It will also be a mite more stable at motorway speeds. The Michelin Pilot Alpin is a very good winter tyre, as are the Pirelli W240 Sottozero or the Scorpion Ice & Snow. They're effectively the only options you have in runflat fitment
