As for applying the stuff, I bought some cheap thing from halfrauds specifically designed for the job and it works a treat, especially on low profile tyres.
I don't use snow foam but yes it's a lot more resitant to washing off than the likes of the turtle wax spray, I've also skipped a few wash before re-applying and the tyres retain the really black look fairly well. As for applying it I just cut a sponge up, squeeze some out the bottle on it then rub it on the trye, just make sure you remove any excess otherwise it will spray up the bodywork.
