Anyone change springs in new style forge diverter valves?

I can't get anything on there to twist open. It's not like the old style where it was obvious and easy to open up. Anyone have any hints to get it open? It looks like the opposite end from where it used to open on the old style is where it would turn, but I can't get grip on it.

I want to put the yellow springs in.

**namotorsports added on to the bottom of the forge instructions for the new style. You can see a picture of what I'm talking about at the bottom of this document: http://www.namotorsports.net/docs/FMDVBM35B.pdf

I can not get that base to twist at all.
