A few years ago, there was scheme where your local tyre place would do just this and post code engrave your alloys (much in the same way that they did for bikes)

Not sure what happened to that scheme (for wheels or bikes) but you can pick up one of those Dremmel (is that how it is spelt) engravers for 20 so perhaps you could do it yourself?

How hard can it be?

Thinking about this, you might be better off engraving the reg number or VIN just incase you sell the car.
