Personally, I crave getting into my car during most waking moments to do exactly that.
While I agree with you, I think the article is trying to say that some drivers like to have the low-end and mid-range power, because that's what they're most likely to use in everyday driving scenarios.
I don't think it means that those people won't necessarily like high-end power.
