This is correct but there is a hybrid solution too:
335i brake shoes, with a corner welded from a 328i shoes. The shoes sit on 335i backing micro plate that holds the shoe pivot point for the 335i hand brake shoes. this fits over current 328i micro plate mountingn points in the rear, at worst a hole in the 335i plate will be made that does not impact operation
BTW this micro plate rusts and it is why your hand brakes squeak when parked
So the result of this hybrid is - less welding costs, no need for bearing/knuckles/carrier, no hand break squeak until it rusts again
