If you started out with L7 there is a AMP in the back that is interfaced to the
Head Unit by a single fiberoptic cable (well technically it has a feed and return) and its incompatible with anything but
a BMW Head Unit configured for L7 Top Hi Fi.

Do not throw away of discard your old head unit you may need it if the car ever needs repairs. The bmw diagnostic computer at the dealership must see the car in its original configuration to work . If you need to recode or replace modules you will need the original radio installed. You also may get error codes on the dash from the modules attached to the original radio that now will not function. Such as BMW Sos , pdc , bluetooth and cdc.
