for posting the write up and thanks to everyone else for all of the feedback. Now that I have read everything I'm going to attempt to WD40 the shaft bearing and if that does not work I'll replace the blower motor.
Just for clarification,
What are the symptoms of the resistor being bad?
For me my blower does not work at all despite indicating correctly on the climate indicator.
