DUDE! Where were you two weeks ago? I ordered Skene Design low-profile plate mount (similar to your solution but uses two screws to attach to the underside of the front bumper) for
$49.99 - it looks GREAT and it's strong/adjustable but I get the feeling there's a pretty healthy-sized profit margin built in.
