Thanks also for the very useful post. I can see your point, I do not want to do anything which may invalidate my extended warranty. I'll see how my dealer views it when I talk to them and will post an update - likely to be tomorrow (just got back off a few days holiday tonight and I doubt the car will start after this cold snap).
