Dealer will firstly factor in fictional average refurb costs of £1500, if your car doesn't need refurb then thats extra profit. Then they would seek about 20% on top of that.

Therefore say they give you 16k for your car, that turns into a 21k asking price, they drop a bit off this but if they have saved on refurb its smiles all the way. If it sits around a while this again eats into their profit in extra depreciation but again there is plenty of room to move.
