Technically, it's not OEM. It's sold thru parts only - I guarantee it's considered "aftermarket" by BMW. That's probably why it's not available in the US - if it were, legally, the manufacturer cannot say, "you can get this from us but no one else - their equivalent product will void your warranty - even though they're the same".
