This thread and the one on the new M1 (
here) are interesting in the number of people who object to the design elements of the cars that make them what they are. Think of BMW and kidney grills.
In this thread, the wheels and the striping are what people are mostly objecting to but they are the design elements that say "Alpina" to someone familiar with the brand.
Same goes for the new M1 design. Many readers object to the wheels, the louvers, and dual roundels in the rear but those are what provide the design link to the original M1.
Is this because those who object are not familiar with the previous designs or that the link to the past is not important to them?
