Thanks to everyone involved with this thread and the linked thread over on Bimmer forum this is really pretty easy.

I would recommend leaving the window down one inch from the top the entire time. If you do this and unscrew/remove the nuts shown the actuator slips right out. Don't do anything with the lock on the outside of the door a don't bother messing wih the bolt under the plug on the end of the door.
