Ok, so I bought this item

I tried looking for any DIYs expaining just how to replace that part but couldnt find any good.
Does anyone know if it's necessary to remove the whole handbrake boot to do this or can I just remove the grip and replace it?
Any links to DIYs or equivalient are apreciated
