I think I understand the list now and how they are "collector" cars: think 94 325is M-Tech (not worth more than an M3, but worth quite a bit more than a regular 325is). They are not looking for all out exotics, but more what the average joe will have in his garage 20 years from now.
There is no argument that a 335is will be worth quite a bit more and be more desirable than a regular 335i. Think e46 ZHP as well as e30 or e36 M Tech.
