That's exactly what I did some 5 years ago for my E46 M3, and it works fine. The problem is getting an OEM amp cheap enough to justify this route and the work involved in de-soldering that connector from the PCB and then soldering the wires to the connector itself...
That's the reason that I decided to go my own route and make it cheaper and easier to make...
