Depends on the state. And why would you knowingly destroy part of you car? You can also end up clogging the cat which will require you to remove it or replace it. Driving with a misfire will also cause vibrations which can shorten the life if the internals.

Replacing a coil is so easy and cheap. There is absolutly no reason you should be driving with a dead one.
