There is only one 0W-30 Castrol Syntec for sale in the United States, and it is "BMW LONGLIFE-01" approved. Typed that right off the back of the bottle that is in front of me

It is the 5W-30 that is confusing. It does not meet the spec (as sold over the counter in the United Sates), and it is not the same as the "Castrol 5W-30" sold by BMW.

But when in doubt all any of us need to do is read the back of the bottle that we are buying. All the approvals will be listed.
