Personally, while I think that Connect2 is a worthwhile, I feel it should be funded by some of the tax you pay on your fuel, not by your lottery money.

Projects like Connect2 should be funded by alternate sources, to me there's no escaping that.

I remember when they opened the Sherwood Forest vistor's centre a good few years ago and it was done by the hard work of the Sherwood Forest Rangers and local community. When it was first suggested the idea was poo-pooed (sp?) and was said to not be worthy as "no-one would come to visit". A bit of funding to back up the hard work will go a lot further than a few 3m cycle lanes...

They've even decided that the national forest will be sited in Leicestershire.

I have to say that I'm always jealous of places like the New Forest - significantly more impressive in age and acres than Sherwood, and (will a few beers inside me) yearn for Sherwood to be "back on the map".

Besides, if you're coming home from the pub, you should be in a ditch (or some student's busom) and not on some poxy bridge.
