Sequential means one turbo kicks in one at a time at diferent RPM ranges but both are powered by all of the engines cylinders; parallel means both turbos kick in at the same time and one turbo is usually powered by half the # of cylinders of the engine and the other turbo by the other half (as in the N54, its 3 cylinders per turbo).
