Tires, brake pads and oil changes are maintenance items. If that cost worries you then get a cheaper car man.

Your finance hookup for just the powertrain isn't really hooking you up. A powertrain warranty covers minor things. If he's quoting you $2400 for a 2yr/24k powertrain warranty then I got a steal on my 7yr/100k platinum at a few hundred more.
