I would never buy a ragtop convertible and yes the 135 is not much of a looker. The only reason I ended up with one was because of the retractable hardtop. It's funny how 99% of regular people just thinks it's a regular coupe until I hit the button.
People will have their opinions, but after you've driven one for a while (esp in warmer climates) it's hard to go back. Only reason not to get it is if you're an avid tracker and precious seconds is important to you.
I would recommend holding off for the 335i if you can afford it. The new 2 series might be an option as well.
