If it's anything like the N52 I can think of 2 possibilities; Did you replace the intake mani gaskets when you took it off?
The wires/plugs for the CPS are on the front sides of the engine. Maybe you damaged one since they're near the same area where you were working?

I didn't replace the intake manifold gaskets but I am going to tonight. I am also going to pull and clean the vanos solenoids and then check the wiring because I saw that the wiring for one of the valves goes back over the intake manifold. I am thinking that maybe I damaged the wires to that solenoid when I pulled the manifold.
