You are correct, for the 328i in the US, the PE replaces everything past the secondary cats, including the resonator. But I think the PE for the 128i only gets the muffler and retains the resonator. Euro applications are different too.

It would be interesting to get the opinion of someone who has heard both exhausts side by side, from outside and from inside. It is impossible to tell from a video what the "live" sound is truly like. The AA exhaust seems to be very good quality, and a better value, plus, like you said, has a more of a weight reduction as a bonus. It would come down to the sound for me to decide if the extra cost of the PE was worth it.
