For example I won't give to 'megacharities' like UNICEF because fundamentally I believe they waste more of my ££ on their various overheads and bullshit like sponsoring football teams. I do sponsor friends or family and I am happy to participate in charitable events. I also donate on an ad-hoc basis to specific charities or causes.

For the most part I think people should donate as they see fit so I don't really think my way is right as such.... More just a series of guidelines I like to follow!

To be fair: Unicef were actually paid by Barcelona. They did not buy sponsorship rights or anything like that...
